Hi, when i had problem with my new Nokia X3 i tryied http://www.phonecopy.com which synchronize contacts via GSM network to cloud and i downloaded free App for my Mac to access it. Works great.

I got this to work with a Nokia 6350 from AT&T. I’m running OS X 10.6.6. Instead of XML and a text editor to modify the MetaClasses.plist file, I opened it with Property List Editor (one of the tools in Apple’s free XCode developer’s download). I copied the Nokia 6280 entry, pasted it, renamed it to 6350, changed every 6280 item to 6350, and saved the modified plist file. I downloaded the NOK6300.tiff file, renamed it NOK6350.tiff, and added it to the already open Resources folder. I closed the iSync package, launched it, and it recognized the 6350 and synchronized it with my Address Book. Yeah!

Note: Initially I could not save the changed MetaClasses.plist file. I had to open the iSync package, select the Contents folder, Get Info on it, add my admin account to Sharing & Permissions and give it Read & Write privileges, and then select the option to Apply to enclosed items.

Does not immediately work on Snow Leopard 10.6.6… to make it work you’ll need to move the phone plugin folder to the Plugins folder in the iSync package. You’ll see other phone plugins listed there as well. I named the folder “Nokia-6300.phoneplugin” and moved the content folder from the plugin to this folder. You can then delete the plugin from it’s previous location. Start iSync and it should work.

I don’t know WHY Apple doesn’t insert the supporting of more device in their iSync… because iSync is nice, easy, powerfull but… I cannot belive WHICH is the reason to don’t support more device…
By other side, this trick is really funny: insert code, concentrate to don’t make “sh*t, hehe!

It didnt work. I have Mac os X Tiger and in MetaClasses.plist, I replaced the 6280 XML portion with the 6300 and copied the Nokia.tiff to the folder as well. When I start iSync, it detects the Nokia 6300 during scan and shows the Nokia photo as well. But when I double-ckick on my phone, iSync shows it as “unknown (!)” on its sync-bar and doesnt sync at all. What have i done wrong? Thanks a lot

It worked perfectly on 6300. Doesn’t work on 6303. Florian #46 I tried but it didn’t work. Any one has any suggestions?

Hi.

I found the XML on this page copied exactly as above crashed iSync. I believe there is an extra or misplaced tag somewhere in there.

In any case I just copied the XML from MetaClasses.plist for the 6280, replaced with 6300, and I’m off and running. So despite my minor troubles, many many thanks for the instructions. Without them I never would have found that file, or known the right phone to duplicate.

Just confirmed, in the txt file the XML begins: com.nokia.6300

Dear Klaus,
About one year ago I installed your iSync Plug-in as described in this article “How to iSync a Nokia 6300 on Mac OS X” and it was working perfectly ! Thanks for this. However, some days ago all of a sudden it the iMac seems unable to connect with the Nokia 6300 using iSync (although I can browse the Nokia 6300 via the iMac and send sms messages from the iMac via the Nokia 6300). When I startup iSync, it only mention “connecting” without any other action. I tried to re-install the Plug-In, but without positive result. So I’m really desperate, since it used to work perfectly and was very very useful. So, could anybody help ? Many thanks in advance !
